My Thoughts on Organization

I thought I'd include my contribution to our Mothers of Twins Club newsletter for January 2006

PHEW! Well, I’m glad the holiday season is finally over! Yesterday, on one of the morning news programs, I saw an expert who was talking about how to get your home organized now that “everything is back to normal.” Well, I don’t know about you all, but my house is nowhere close to being back to normal yet. I still have decorations and new toys all over the place. Every year, my New Year’s resolutions include “getting organized,” but I have yet to achieve this lofty goal. It’s a daily battle against dirty clothes, school papers, mittens, boots, snow pants, junk mail, clothes that have been outgrown, art supplies, toys, club papers, work papers, candy wrappers, books, and so on. One of the interesting things that the organizing expert said was that the average woman spends two weeks of every year looking for things. You can probably double that for women with twins and multiples!

Anyway, here’s hoping that you are more organized than I am, and that the New Year brings you good health, happy families and good organization skills! I’m off to start cleaning up the house!
